VNU Vice President Lê Quân attended the commemoration.
This was the first time in Vietnam, hundreds of Vietnamese and Russian veterans and their relatives had been at VNU to join the “Immortal Regiment” in celebration of the two nations’ major national holidays.
Speaking at the commemoration, the Russian Federation Ambassador to Vietnam Konstantin V. Vnukov expressed his sincere thanks to VNU for co-organizing this meaningful event. He said that the event was not only an expression of gratitude and respect to Vietnamese and Russian heroes who sacrificed their lives for the countries’ freedom and the global peace but also meaningful in that it helped promote the partnership between the two nations.
Referring to the famous saying, “No one is forgotten, nothing is forgotten!”, Ambassador Konstantin V. Vnukov hoped that the youth of Vietnam and Russia would thoroughly understand the sacrifice of their predecessors and join efforts in further building their nations and defending independence of each nation and the world.
Later the same day was the music program “Victory singing” with songs and dance about love for the country, the national defense war by staff, lecturers and students from VNU, the Russian Embassy School and other higher institutions in Hanoi such as the People’s Security Academy, the People's Police Academy, the University of Transport and Communications, Hanoi University of Business and Technology, etc.
