The 2017 International Biology Olympiad features a silver medalist from HUS High School for Gifted Students
Attending the 2017 International Biology Olympiad (IBO) held from July 23 to July 30, 2017 in the United Kingdom, three out of four Vietnamese students won one gold and two silver medals.

Nguyễn Phương Thảo, an 11th grader from VNU University of Science High School for Gifted Students, won a silver medal.

Trương Đông Hưng, a 12th grader from Quốc học Huế High School for the Gifted (Thừa Thiên-Huế Province) won a gold medal; Dương Tiến Quang Huy, a 12th grader from Lam Sơn High School for the Gifted (Thanh Hóa Province) won a silver medal.

With the named results, Vietnam ranked 12th overall, the best rank ever gained by Vietnam International Biology team (at the 2016 IBO  Vietnam team won a gold, a silver and two bronze medals.

The 28th IBO was held at the University of Warwick, Coventry, the UK, with the participation of 245 contestants from 68 countries and territories and 4 other countries participating as observers.
