Under the witness of Irish Minister for Education and Skills Richard Bruton, the Irish Embassy in Vietnam and VNU exchanged partnership folders for the project of building the capacity of VNU faculty and staff to promote student skills in the 21st century and the project of cooperation between the University of Cork and VNU University of Social Sciences and Humanities. At the same time, VNU President Nguyễn Kim Sơn and Vice President Juliette Hussey signed a bilateral cooperation agreement between VNU and Trinity College Dublin, the University of Dublin.

Expressing his pleasure to welcome the Irish Minister for Education and Skills and his delegation to VNU, VNU President Nguyễn Kim Sơn believed that the presence of Mr. Richard Bruton would contribute to promoting cooperation in education between Vietnam and Ireland in general and between VNU and Irish universities in particular.

VNU President Nguyễn Kim Sơn said that VNU and the Embassy of Ireland had been in partnership since 2011 and had carried out a number of such cooperative projects as co-organizing the Vietnam - Ireland Education Conference, supporting the Annual Economic Report of VNU University of Economic and Business and the Annual Education Report of VNU University of Education, providing scholarships for students…With the strengths and wide open opportunities, VNU President Nguyễn Kim Sơn hoped that Minister Richard Bruton would support the two sides to promote effective bilateral cooperation.

Speaking at the meeting, Irish Minister for Education and Skills Richard Bruton said that education played a very important role in the development of the nation, which was also one of the driving forces for Ireland to overcome the hardships and to thrive. Like Vietnam, Ireland was always looking for solutions to meet the needs of the industries, especially under the rapid development of information technology in the current context.

Highly appreciating the results of cooperation between VNU and Irish universities, Minister Richard Bruton said that in the context of development with both opportunities and challenges as today, VNU played a strategic role, especially in the field of training high quality human resources for Vietnam. He said that the Department of Education and Skills always encouraged and facilitated Ireland's educational institutions to cooperate with VNU, working together to build a mutually beneficial relationship.
