VNU returns to Vietnam’s first place in the Webometrics Ranking of World Universities
On July 30, 2018, the Cybernetrics Lab announced the second Webometrics rankings of 2018.

According to the report, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU), having climbed 144 places up from the 1450th to 1306th place in the world, has returned to the top position in Vietnam, the 25th in Southeast Asia and 368th in Asia.

Ranked by criterion, VNU has improved significantly by three out of the four criteria, namely by the “Impact”, VNU moved 235 places up; by the “Excellence” in scientific research, 98 places up. Particularly, thanks to the 10 profiles of VNU scientists featured in Google Scholar with the highest number of citations, by the “Openness’, VNU moved 581 places up. This is also the result of active involvement of a large number of VNU scientists in the Community of world scholars featured in Google Scholar.

The second place in Vietnam went to Hanoi University of Science and Technology, followed by Can Tho University and Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City (1,336, 2,714, and 2,772, respectively). Hanoi University of Science and Technology is the best in terms of the “Impact” among the Vietnamese higher education institutions (1,165).

In June, 2018, VNU was listed among the world’s top 1,000 universities for the first time, according to Quacquarelli Symonds World University Rankings (QS). Ranked by criterion, VNU was featured in the world’s Top 500 according to its employer reputation and faculty/student ratio.
