11. Summary of new findings of the thesis:

The thesis contributes to enriching the content of demand theory, cognitive-behavior theory and advocacy - empowerment theory in researching social work activities in the health environment; contribute to in-depth interpretation of the concepts of: social work, group social work, social workers, adolescents inpatient treatment and social work activities with adolescents inpatient treatment; at the same time, highlighting an overview of social activities in hospitals.

The thesis has clearly shown that adolescents inpatient treatment have a high need to access to social work activities and clearly reflect the social work activities at the National Hospital of Pediatrics with low focus on supporting children on administrative procedures, on medical examination and treatment, on connecting medical examination/treatment with medicine staff, but highly focused on nutritional support and gift giving. This fact makes many teenagers think that social work activities are unnecessary and do not create their satisfaction. Evaluation results from the medicine staff also show that social work activities have almost no positive impact on medical examination and treatment.

The thesis also clarifies the process of experimental group social work activities with adolescents inpatient treatment; analyze the meaning and ways of forming a group; analyze how to prepare group interventions through the "defrosting" activity, strengthen relationships among members, identify problems and select priorities, plan task implementation.

The thesis also analyzes the positive and limited role of experimental social work activities in group in helping adolescents inpatient treatment to minimize feelings of anxiety about disease and treatment, in connecting them with medicine staff, and in assisting them to reduce anxiety about studying for peace of mind.

The research results reflect that adolescents inpatient treatment evaluated at a high score about the necessity of group social work activities, with high satisfaction about these activities. Medicine staffs and caregivers also acknowledge that the group social word activities has made a positive impact on the health care.

The thesis also proposes a system of solutions in line with current practice at the National Hospital of Pediatrics in order to improve the effectiveness of medical examination and treatment for patients from the perspective of social work.
