The evaluation criteria of the 4.0 version of AUN-QA program-level assessment has been shortened from 11 criteria to 8 criteria, among which, there are 4 training program indicators including learning objectives, program structure and content, teaching and learning approach, and student assessment; 3 resource indicators including academic staff, student support services, facilities and infrastructure; and output and outcomes. These factors are rated on a scale of 1-7.
From March 21, 2023 to March 23, 2023, an independent evaluation group worked with leaders, lecturers, officials, students, alumni, and employers of the training programs under accreditation; visited the facilities of VNU University of Science, VNU University of Social Sciences and Humanities and VNU University of Law, … for a better assessment of these training programs.
At the closing session, the AUN-QA accreditation experts presented both the strengths and limitations of the 4 VNU’s accredited training programs and gave recommendations for their improvement based on the AUN-QA general assessment criteria. Accordingly, the experts emphasized academic exchange and learning experiences of partner universities offering similar training programs, developing innovative assessment methods with discipline-specific criteria, among others.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, VNU Vice President Nguyen Hoang Hai said that VNU was always a pioneer and actively participated in the accreditation of training programs against the national and international standards, including AUN- QA. VNU is also the first higher education institution in Vietnam to have established an Institute for Education Quality Assurance in order to maintain and develop a comprehensive quality culture. He hoped that the 4 newly-accredited programs would be improved according to the recommendations from AUN-QA and more VNU programs would be accredited by AUN-QA.
In the coming time, VNU Vice President hoped that the two sides would join efforts to make it possible for VNU to be a provider of accreditation experts for AUN-QA and further promote training on quality assurance at VNU.
