Ehime University was established in 1949 with three faculties: Social humanities, education and engineering. To day, the University has 6 faculties: Law and Literature; Education; Natural Sciences; y education; and Agriculture Engineering with 10,000 undergraduate students and graduate students and 2,000 academic and administrative staff.
In particular, Ehime University has strength in natural sciences.
Currently, the University is ranked 20 among 87 state universities in Japan, and ranked 1100 in 2010 by Webomatrics.
