VNU Remembrance Medal Awarded to Mr. Masaaki Yoshida
On March 16, 2017, VNU President Nguyễn Kim Sơn awarded VNU Remembrance Medal to Mr. Masaaki Yoshida – Former Founder and Chairman of RECOF Corporation, Former Executive Chairman of the Japan-Vietnam Economic Forum (JVEF) for his contribution to the establishment of VNU Vietnam – Japan University (VJU).

Attending the ceremony were Former Politburo Member, Former Head of the Central Organizing Committee, Chairman of Vietnam-Japan Friendship Association, Honorary Rector of VJU, Tô Huy Rứa; and Rector of VJU Furuta Motoo.

On the Japanese side were Mr. Nagai Katsuro - Envoy of the Embassy of Japan in Vietnam; Mr. Takebe Tsutomu, Special Advisor to the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Alliance; and representatives from Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). 

Speaking at the ceremony, VNU President Nguyễn Kim Sơn stressed that VNU VJU had always received support and assistance from the Governments of Japan and Vietnam as well as individuals and organizations from the two countries. VNU VJU, a symbol of the friendship between the two nations, is an institution for training high quality human resources for both Vietnam and Japan.

Extending his sincere thanks to Mr. Yoshida Masaaki, VNU President Nguyễn Kim Sơn hoped that Mr. Yoshida Masaaki would make further contributions to the realizing of VJU’s goals as well as towards the enhancing of Japan-Vietnam relationship through advanced standards youth education.

Expressing his thanks and honor to receive the Medal, Mr. Masaaki Yoshida said, “With my experience and knowledge, I promise to contribute to the development of VJU – the first Vietnam - Japan higher education institution in Vietnam. This Medal strongly encourages me to realize the above-named ambition and plan.”

Showing his belief in Vietnam – Japan partnership, Mr. Nagai Katsuro stated, “The awarding of VNU Remembrance Medal to Mr. Masaaki Yoshida is not only to praise his contributions but also to promote the development of VNU VJU.”

Also at the ceremony, Mr. Takebe Tsutomu congratulated Mr. Masaaki Yoshida and highly appreciated VJU’s initial training results. Mr. Takebe Tsutomu believed that the two countries’ governments would continue supporting VNU VJU in its on-going development towards an international university in Asia.

Mr. Masaaki Yoshida was the 9th foreigner and the 4th Japanese to have received VNU Remembrance Medal for his contributions to the University development.
