Promoting cooperation with Taiwan partners
On April 28, 2017, VNU President Nguyễn Kim Sơn welcomed and had a working session with Mr. Richard R. C. Shih, Representative, Taipei Economic and Culture Office in Vietnam (TECO) and his colleagues.

At the meeting, Mr. Richard R. C. Shih stated that among various cooperation fields with Vietnam, education was considered as the most important one. Therefore, he hoped that as a leading university in Vietnam, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) would be the pioneer and the linkage in building and promoting cooperation in this field between Vietnam and Taiwan.

VNU President Nguyễn Kim Sơn proposed that along with the current cooperation activities, the Taiwan side would support VNU in developing agricultural science by collaborating in training and high-tech agriculture research projects with VNU units. VNU President also hoped that the Representative of TECO would encourage Taiwan scientists and experts to come to Vietnam to participate in joint training and research programs.

Introducing VNU Tran Nhan Tong Institute, VNU President Nguyễn Kim Sơn expected Mr. Richard R. C. Shih to promote the signing of MoU between the Institute and Taiwan universities and the preparing of the VNU international conference on Buddhism expected to take place at the end of this year.

Expressing his agreement with VNU President’s ideas, Mr. Richard R. C. Shih thought that the two sides should make a detailed cooperation plan. He also said that he would introduce VNU to potential Taiwan partners in an attempt to establish a diverse and qualified cooperation network.
