Phạm Cao Nguyên, a 12th grader from VNU University of Science High School for Gifted Students, won a bronze medal.
Lê Quang Tuấn, a 12th grader from Hanoi National University of Education High School for Gifted Students, won a gold medal. The other bronze medal went to a 12th grader, Nguyễn Hy Hoài Lâm from Quốc học Huế High School for the Gifted (Thừa Thiên-Huế Province).
The 29th International Olympiad in Informatics featured 308 contestants from 84 countries and territories. Vietnam was among 19 gold-medal winning countries and territories, unofficially ranked 17th, and was the only gold-medal winning ASEAN nation at the event.
To date in 2017, the International Olympiad contestants from HUS High School for Gifted Students have held 5 out of 21 medals by Vietnamese contestants, including 3 of the 13 gold medals, 1 of the 5 silver medals, and 1 of the 3 bronze medals; thus significantly contributing to the high achievement of Vietnam delegation.
