VNU affirms its position through major international research cooperation programs and projects

LAOS PROJECT

The Government assigned VNU to manage the project using non-refundable aid from the Vietnamese Government for the Laos Government. Within the framework of the project, VNU supports the National University of Laos in building a Centre for Scientific Research and Coaching, contributing to building capacity for staff, lecturers, and students of the National University of Laos through coaching, training, scientific research, and staff, lecturers and students exchanges. The Centre built in Laos serves as a unique symbol of the partnership between VNU and the National University of Laos in particular, and evidence of the remarkable friendship between Vietnam and Laos in general; and enhances the role of the two national universities in the ASEAN region and the world.

The project affirms VNU's prestige, demonstrates its national responsibility and regional position, and promotes its internationalization and export of training programs.

WORLD BANK PROJECT

The "Vietnam National University development – VNU, Hanoi" subproject has a total investment of 125.18 million USD from the World Bank loan and the counterpart capital of the Vietnamese Government. The project aims to improve the quality of training, scientific research, and university administration of VNU. Within five years, from 2021 to 2025, VNU will have invested in the construction of 18 1-to-8-storey buildings with classrooms, offices, libraries, and laboratories for teaching, learning, and research; a sports centre; 2 wastewater treatment stations, internal yards and roads, and a drainage system.

The project consists of 3 components:

- Component 1: Improving the quality of teaching and learning;

- Component 2: Excelling in scientific research and technology transfer in key fields;

- Component 3: Improving project management and implementation capacity.

THE PARTNERSHIP FOR HIGHER EDUCATION REFORM PROJECT (PHER)

The project of the Partnership for Higher Education Reform is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), coordinated and implemented by Indiana University, USA, and joined by three Vietnam’s leading higher education institutions, namely Vietnam National University, Hanoi; Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City; and the University of Da Nang. The initiative lasts from 2022 to 2026, aiming to strengthen the quality of training and scientific research, and enhance the education system's administrative capacity and market responsiveness by implementing activities in 4 fields of administration, training, study, and linkage with businesses, meeting the demand for human resources serving the country's industrialization, modernization, and international integration.
