VNU - IS consecutively ranked at the top position by RePec for the first 3 months of 2021

The Department of Social Sciences, Economics and Management under International School - Vietnam National University, Hanoi is consecutively ranked at the top position by RePec (Research Papers in Economics) for the first three months of 2021 out of 53 Economic Research Institutions in Vietnam.

The next four institutions after VNU-IS are the University of Economics of Ho Chi Minh City, the Mekong Development Research Institute of the National Economics University, the Interdisciplinary Social Research Center of Phenikaa University and Foreign Trade University.

To be featured on top position of RePec ranking, the institutions must meet a set of criteria such as the number of published papers/researches, the number of times these papers are cited by other scientific articles and journals, and the impact level, etc.

The Research Papers in Economics (RePEc) project is the joint collaborative efforts of hundreds of volunteers from more than 80 countries around the world to promote coverage of research in economics and other associated interdisciplinary sciences.

RePEc assesses economic research institutions around the world based on quantitative criteria such as number of published papers/researches, IF index and citation number of publications, etc. Currently, there are 8,269 registered institutions with 61,219affiliated authors in more than 200 countries and territories to be evaluated for rankings.

In addition to rankings announcement, RePec also publishes ratings by author, country or region, etc. on a monthly basis.

On top of that, 3 VNU-IS scientists are also featured in the ranking of the top 10 economists in Vietnam for the past 3 months, including Dr. Nguyen Viet Cuong, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Duc Khuong and Dr. Tran Quang Tuyen.

Dr. Nguyen Viet Cuong holds a Master's degree and PhD in Development Economics from the Faculty of Agricultural Economics and Management, Wageningen University, The Netherlands. Dr. Cuong has a wealth of research and consulting experience in policy and project impact assessment, poverty analysis, ethnic minorities, health analysis and education. He has participated in many research projects and advised as leader of a research team for ministries, research institutes, international agencies and NGOs in Vietnam.

Prof. Dr. Nguyen Duc Khuong graduated from the University of Commerce as valedictorian, completed a Master's program in financial administration and successfully defended his doctoral thesis in Emerging markets finance at Grenoble Alpes University, France, and successfully defended the HDR thesis (accreditation to supervise research) at the University of Cergy-Pontoise. His research interests include emerging financial markets, energy finance, volatility patterns and risk management in international capital markets.

Dr. Tran Quang Tuyen earned his Master's degree in Political Economy from VNU and a PhD in Economics from Waikato University, New Zealand. Dr. Tuyen has achieved remarkable results in scientific research by publishing many papers in ISI / Scopus indexed journals. Dr. Tran Quang Tuyen also introduced the results of his in-depth research in the form of scientific articles to promote their applications in Vietnam.
