VNU wins various prizes at the 31st Vietnam Student Olympiad in Informatics
The 31st Vietnam Student Olympiad in Informatics (OLP’22) and the 2022 International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) Asia held from December 6 – 9, 2022 at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education, attracted about 700 students from 71 universities, colleges, and institutes nationwide.

In this exam, VNU’s delegation won a large number of prizes. Specifically, VNU University of Science team won the first prize for both informatics majors and non-informatics majors; VNU University of Engineering and Technology team won the 31st Vietnam Student Olympiad in Informatics and the first prize at the 2022 ICPC Asia.

VNU University of Science team comprising 6 Math, Computer Science and Information students, led by Dr. Vu Tien Dung from the Faculty of Mathematics - Mechanics – Informatics, took part in the exam. All the team members won prizes, including the top prize for informatics majors and the top prize for non-informatics majors.

The team comprising Ngo Quy Dang, Dang Xuan Minh Hieu and Mai Hoang Duc won the second prize at the national ICPC; the team comprising Ngo Quy Dang, Nguyen Duc Huy and Bui Khanh Duy won the third prize at the Northern ICPC; the team comprising Ngo Quy Dang, Dang Xuan Minh Hieu and Vu Thi Thanh Van won the first prize for non-informatics majors at the ACM ICPC ASIA International Programming held in Ho Chi Minh City.

The team from the Faculty of Information Technology, VNU University of Engineering and Technology won many high prizes at the ICPC Asia, Olympic, and Procon Super Cup competitions. Specifically, Vu Huy Hoang (QH-2022) won the Gold Cup; Truong Van Quoc Bao (QH-2022) won the Bronze Cup; Dao Quang Thai Duong (QH-2020) and Nguyen Nhat Minh (QH-2022) won the third prize at the OLP'22.

The OLP'22, Procon, and ICPC Asia Ho Chi Minh City gathered excellent IT students from universities and colleges across the country. Held yearly over the past 31 years, Vietnam Student Olympiad in Informatics is an exciting and practical competition for university and college students, thereby early detecting young Vietnamese intellectual talents to supplement information technology resources to serve the country’s industrialization and modernization.

Although launched later than the Informatics Olympiad, ICPC Vietnam has already participated in the ICPC World Finals - a competition that is likened to the "Olympic Games" for Information Technology students, 17 times.
