- In terms of theory: The thesis contributes to systematizing theoretical issues on university governance, including the concept and content of university governance focusing on two main contents: the components in the management structure and the relationship between the components in the university governance structure and the factors affecting university governance.

- In terms of practice: The thesis analyzes the situation of university governance at public universities focusing on two main contents: the components in the governance structure and the relationship between the components in the university governance structure, in which only the achieved points, the limitations and the causes of the limitations. In addition, the thesis also analyzes and evaluates the factors affecting university governance. From there, author give recommendations for university governance at public universities in Vietnam to meet the requirements of university governance.
