Attending the ceremony were Ambassador of France Mr. Bertrand Lortholary; AUF Regional Director for Asia-Pacific region Mr. Ouidad Tebbaa; Counselor of Cooperation and Cultural Activities French Embassy / Director of the French Institute in Vietnam Mr. Etienne Rolland-Piegue; Attaché in Education of the French Embassy Mr. Lucile Bruand; French Cooperation Attaché of French Embassy Ms. Myriam Dinh. On the side of ULIS, President Do Tuan Minh, representatives of departments, lecturers and students of the Faculty of French Language & Culture attended the ceremony.
According to the agreement signed on September 5th, 2018, ULIS-VNU and the French Embassy in Vietnam agreed to cooperate in establishing a space to introduce France and French-speaking community called “Espace France” or “French Space” on ULIS campus.
Since the beginning of its operation, volunteers working at the French Space have organized many activities for teachers and students, such as organization of thematic clubs for students, attendances at literary classes, organization of film screenings on Christmas and Valentine, etc.
Speaking at the ceremony, French Ambassador Bertrand Lortholary said that “Espace France” at ULIS was the first French space in Hanoi and the fourth French space in Vietnam. This launching ceremony was also an opportunity to honor the close relationship between France and Vietnam, especially those who love French and French culture.
In his congratulatory speech, President Do Tuan Minh affirmed that the establishment of the first French Space in Hanoi was a very significant event for the University in general and the Faculty of French Language & Culture in particular.
The first French space opened at ULIS is a great honor for teachers and students of the University of Foreign Languages and it also shows the ambassador’s belief in the University.
