VNU pays special attention to developing lecturer, researcher, and student exchange programs with world prestigious universities to enhance the internationalization index in management and training organization.
As of 2022, VNU had 397 cooperation agreements with foreign partners and organizations, of which there were about 290 cooperation agreements with universities and international organizations on student exchange activities. The 2021-2022 academic year was a peculiar school year as most exchange activities were conducted online due to the complicated developments of the global pandemic; student and cultural exchanges with international partners were constrained by travel restrictions.
In the above-mentioned academic year, VNU announced 18 international partner exchange programs (4 programs in the second half of 2021 and 14 programs in the first half of 2022); most exchange programs involved online training. Ten VNU students were sent to exchange at international partner institutions and 8 international students came to study on exchange at VNU.
Along with face-to-face student exchange programs, VNU successfully implemented an online student exchange program with EU SHARE. This program has been implemented in a face-to-face form since 2015. Yet, due to the Covid-19 epidemic, it was transferred to an online format (referred to as COIL module implementation). The lecturers from EU SHARE participating institutions having similar curricula, collaborated to design a COIL module based on their available modules for team teaching. EU SHARE financially supports these lecturers in building and conducting the COIL module. In the 2021-2022 academic year, VNU participated in 6 COIL modules with 233 students (with the participation of lecturers from the University of Economics and Business). The students studied online in an internationalized environment, exchanged and connected with international lecturers and students, received financial support and learning materials; and their credit points were recognized by the University of Economics and Business. This new exchange program model brings many benefits to students and lecturers in internationalizing the learning and educational environment.
