In order to contribute to cooperate in scientific activities between VNU Information Technology Institute (VNU-ITI) and with VNU International Francophone Institute (VNU-IFI), on October 4, 2023, the Information Technology Institute organized interviews the international students from the IFI to select the best candidates who will join in research at the ITI’s Labs.
This is considered as the first step for collaboration in training and in-depth research on artificial intelligence and semiconductor design between the two units. The students who come from various countries and territories (such as Togo, Cameroon, RD. Congo, Guinée, Burkina Faso, and Haiti), belonging to the International Francophone Institute (La Francophonie), are studying master’s programs at VNU-IFI. The interviews were attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Hoang Son, Vice-Director of the Information Technology Institute, Head of the research group for “Smart Solutions and Platforms in Artificial Intelligence 4.0” and some representatives of teams (Dr. Cu Kim Long, Dr. Pham Huy Thong, Dr. Tran Manh Tuan, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi Ngan, Dr. Luong Thi Hong Lan, Dr. Le Minh Tuan, Dr. Roan Thi Ngan). The interview took place in an open and friendly atmosphere, helping the students of the International Francophone Institute who participate in the interview to naturally share about their own strengths as well as weaknesses. They discussed their topics of research interest and in the lives of foreign students studying in Vietnam.
This interview focused on three main research topics which are currently being researched at the research group, including video classification, behavior recognition, and image/video data annotation. These are considered interesting topics, keeping up with the development trends of the IT industry in general and the field of AI in particular. Through the interview, some students expressed not only their desire to participate in research at VNU-ITI to complete the research topic of their master’s thesis but also made their dreams come true to continue working in Vietnam after completing the master’s course at the International Francophone Institute. At the end of the interview, the international students expressed deep their deep impression and desire to join in research at the Information Technology Institute.
According to the plan in cooperation agreement between ITI and IFI, the Information Technology Institute will consider, evaluate, and announce the interview results to the International Francophone Institute as soon as possible. The international students, who are selected, will participate in-depth research groups at the Information Technology Institute. Besides, they will join in ITI’s Lab Tour. This schedule will take place at the end of October 2023.
