In 2021, VNU organized seminars, competitions, training courses on entrepreneurship for staff, lecturers, scientists, and students in order to spread the spirit of entrepreneurship, scientific research and form a startup culture at university; coach and consult VNU student start-up projects; and call for investment in student start-up projects:
- VNU collaborated with the Intellectual Property Office of Vietnam (under the Ministry of Science and Technology) to organize an intensive training course on the Introduction to the software for writing invention descriptions and practicing drafting invention descriptions. The Intellectual Property Office of Vietnam sent experts to provide in-depth advice and support for VNU scientists, including direct guidance on writing and completing protection registration documents and implemented training courses on intellectual property for the members of the TISC/IP-HUB network (led by the Intellectual Property Office of Vietnam).
- VNU organized the VNU-Techgate 2021 Program: "Incubating and commercializing VNU scientists’ research results and scientific and technological products" to bring research results and scientific and technological products to the market and to commercialize intellectual assets into useful, practical values for the society.

- VNU Innovation Startup Ideas Competition 2021 organized with the support from Sunwah Group aimed to bolster entrepreneurship and innovation spirit throughout VNU, to create an environment for VNU undergraduates and graduates to flexibly apply their acquired knowledge into practice as well as to discover and nurture creative ideas of VNU students. The competition incubated and improved the quality of 12/43 innovation startup ideas/projects of VNU students. This is also an important activity in the innovation orientation of student scientific research in the new period.
- The startup project of the students from VNU International School won the first prize in the contest organized by Hanoi Youth Union. The startup project of VNU UEB’s students was named in the Top 10 of the National Techfest 2021 Startup Competition.
- A project by VNU HUS students participated in Hong Kong Elevator Pitch Competition 2021.
