This is an annual activity co-organized by the Ministry of Education and Training, Vietnam Physical Society, academies and universities across the country to encourage young students’ creativity and promote the studying of Physics.
The 25th National Student Physics Olympiad, 2023 held by Vietnam Physical Society in collaboration with VNU University of Science from November 30 to December 3. The 2023 contest attracted 43 teams with 256 students and 94 lecturers.
The contestants took a multiple-choice test, a problem solving test and an experimental test. The knowledge required for doing each test is largely from the General Physics program taught at universities with a focus on practical applications.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Chu Dinh Thuy, Permanent Vice President of Vietnam Physical Society, said that the contest aimed to encourage young Physics talents, contributing to improving the quality of teaching and learning physics at academies, universities and colleges nationwide.
Prof. Dr. Vu Hoang Linh, Rector of VNU University of Science, said that as a leading higher education institution in basic sciences, the University was very honoured to host the contest in collaboration with Vietnam Physical Society. The student Olympic movement at VNU University of Science in particular and at VNU in general is extremely important and is always strongly invested in. Prof. Dr. Vu Hoang Linh also hoped that the Ministry of Education and Training, the Central Vietnam Student Association, ministries, departments, agencies, etc. would sponsor the Olympiad exams and provide incentives for students as well as lecturers to participate in these exams.
