Upholding the 117 years of tradition from Indochina University (1906), Vietnam National University (1945) and the University of Hanoi (1956), over the past 30 years, VNU has continuously strived and achieved many outstanding achievements, becoming the national leading higher education and scientific research centre with high international status and rank; playing a leading role in the Vietnamese higher education system. VNU town in Hoa Lac is strongly developing in a smart and sustainable direction with a steadily growing number of structures serving training, scientific research, and development in a spacious and green locality.
VNU owes the above-named prideworthy results to the attention and direction of the Party and Government; the support of ministries, central agencies and localities; the cooperation of businesses, and domestic and foreign partners; and especially, to the intelligence, dedication, passion and efforts of generations of VNU’s scientists, lecturers, students and officials.
The 30th anniversary of the Government's promulgation of the Decree on VNU’s establishment and its 117 years of tradition in VNU town in Hoa Lac is an opportunity for VNU to summarize its achievements, evaluate and draw lessons, thereby preserving its traditions and core values, fostering pride, solidarity, and consensus in building and implementing the development strategy of VNU in the new period.
