Deeply impressed by the rapid development of VNU in Hoa Lac, Mr. Mori Masafumi affirmed that the Japanese Government paid special attention to Vietnam Japan University (VNU VJU) Construction Project and considered VNU VJU as a symbol of the friendly relationship between Japan and Vietnam. According to Mr. Mori Masafumi, the interest of the two governments is clearly shown through the visits of the Japanese heads of state to VNU VJU, and most recently, the visit of Japanese Crown Prince Akishino and Princess Kiko. He also said that in the joint statement on the upgrade of the Vietnam-Japan relationship to a comprehensive strategic partnership last November, the leaders of both sides affirmed that VNU VJU was a symbolic cooperation project in the field of education between the two countries and would continue to cooperate in developing the university.

Mr Mori Masafumi added that he and the Japanese Government would continue to pay special attention to the development of VNU VJU and hoped that VNU would take an active part in speeding up the approving of the "Vietnam Japan University Construction Investment" project Pre-Feasibility Study Report (Pre FS) and ODA funding procedures. He believed that VNU VJU would provide high quality human resources for Vietnam, Japan, Asia and the world.
VNU President Le Quan expressed his respect for the affection and concern of Mr. Mori Masafumi as well as his pleasure to welcome him to VNU in Hoa Lac. The year 2023 is the year of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam - Japan diplomatic relations and also a special year for VNU with the 30th anniversary of the Government's promulgation of the Decree on its establishment and 117 years of tradition.
Mr. Le Quan said that VNU had made great efforts to provide favourable conditions for the implementation of VNU VJU construction project in Hoa Lac, including the completed planning of the university’s entire campus; the land clearance completion; and the university’s pre-feasibility project getting ready to be submitted to the Government of Vietnam. VNU has also been actively taking measures to ensure a good learning and living environment for students of VNU VJU in particular and students of VNU's units in general to study in Hoa Lac. Along with facility priority for VNU VJU to conduct teaching and learning activities on Hoa Lac campus, VNU is building a project to help VNU VJU develop a team of highly-qualified scientists.
Mr Le Quan hoped that the two Governments would join forces to speed up the approval of the pre-feasibility study report and funding procedures so that the project can be implemented on schedule. He also hoped that the Special Advisor, Mr. Mori Masafumi would further assist VNU VJU in attracting more participation and cooperation from Japanese professors, universities and businesses to make a difference and breakthrough in VJU’s future development.
